About COAST 2018
The City of Santa Monica’s third annual open streets event brings the City’s commitment to art, sustainability and mobility to life by filling two miles of streets with large-scale art installations, interactive activities, music and dance performances, roaming musicians and more! All are welcome to explore Downtown Santa Monica by foot or any number of wheeled devices. COAST strives to inspire awareness, conversation and taking action towards living a more sustainable life.
COAST will be held on two-miles of streets closed to car traffic, including Ocean Avenue from Wilshire Boulevard to Colorado Avenue, Colorado Avenue west of 5th Street including the Pier, and Main Street from Colorado Avenue to Marine Street.
Information booths are located at the three key intersections of the route, at Wilshire & Ocean, Colorado & 4th, and Main & Marine. Attendees can enter the event by foot or wheeled device, from any street along the route. There is no start or finish!
Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash.
This event is a unique interdepartmental partnership between the City’s Cultural Affairs Division, Mobility Division, Office of Sustainability and the Environment, and the Office of Communications.
